laxei (“we”) provides the Android application TwyLapse (the “App”), which controls cameras to record time-lapse sequences. This policy explains what information the App handles, what reaches us, and how you can control it.
1. Summary
The App is fully usable without sending us anything. Collection of usage and crash information is optional, and nothing is collected until you agree to it.
We never collect your photographs, the dates on which you shoot, your coordinates, or any text you enter.
We do not sell your information, and we do not hand it to third parties for their own purposes.
2. Information we collect, with your consent
When you first launch the App, it asks whether it may send quality-improvement information. If you agree, the following is collected through Google’s Firebase services (Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics):
App activity
the start and the end of a time-lapse session
the camera model, the phone and external device models, and the App version
the interval between frames, the number of frames, and the duration of the session
how the session ended (completed, stopped by you, or error), and a numeric code identifying the error
the time of day at which the session ended — hours and minutes only, never the date
Crash and diagnostic information
reports produced when the App stops unexpectedly: where the failure occurred, a short history of the screens and operations immediately beforehand, and whether a session was running at the time
Identifiers and approximate location
an identifier that Firebase assigns to your installation of the App. It is specific to this App and is discarded when you uninstall it.
an approximate country and region, which Google derives from the IP address of the connection
3. Information we do not collect
the photographs and videos you record
the date of a session, and the latitude, longitude, altitude or name of your shooting location
the names of shooting plans, places and devices, Wi‑Fi network names (SSIDs) and passwords, camera serial numbers and MAC addresses, and any other text you enter or configure
your name, e‑mail address, telephone number, or any account credentials
Dates and coordinates are excluded deliberately. The App’s schedule follows sunrise, sunset and twilight, which means that the latitude of a shooting location can be inferred from the times of twilight across the seasons. Reporting only the time of day tells us what we need without revealing where you were.
4. Information that stays on your device
The following is required for the App to work. It is stored on your device and is not transmitted to us:
the coordinates and altitude of your shooting locations, obtained from your device’s location services
the photographs and videos the App records, saved to Pictures/TwyLapse on your device
shooting plans, your registered equipment, external device settings, and Wi‑Fi credentials
operation logs. These are never transmitted unless you export them yourself.
The permissions the App requests — camera, location and nearby devices — are used solely to provide these features. Information obtained through them is not collected by us.
5. Why we collect it
Collected information is used only to identify and fix defects in the App and to understand how it is used. It is not used to identify you personally.
6. Your choice
Collection is optional. The App asks on first launch and collects nothing until you agree.
You can change your answer at any time, under Menu → Phone permissions and settings → “Send quality-improvement information” (in the Japanese interface: メニュー → スマホ権限、設定 → 品質向上のための情報を送る).
Declining does not limit any feature of the App.
7. Advertising
The current version of the App displays no advertisements and does not collect an advertising identifier.
We intend to release a free, advertising-supported version. This policy will be updated before that version is published, and the following will then apply to it:
advertisements will be delivered by Google AdMob
for that purpose, your device’s advertising identifier, IP address and interactions with advertisements may be collected and used by Google and its advertising partners to select, deliver and measure advertisements
where the law requires it — for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom — we will ask for your consent before personalised advertising is shown, and you will be able to choose advertisements that are not personalised
you can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time in your device settings
A paid version without advertisements is planned alongside it. Information collected for advertising is separate from the quality-improvement information described in section 2; agreeing to one is not agreeing to the other.
8. Service providers and transfers abroad
We do not sell your information, nor provide it to third parties for their own purposes.
We use Google LLC’s Firebase to process the information described in section 2. Google processes it on our behalf, and it may be stored on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Google’s own privacy policy governs its handling of that information.
9. How long we keep it
usage information: 14 months at most
crash and diagnostic information: for the period determined by Google (a matter of months)
After that period the information is deleted automatically on Google’s services.
10. Requesting deletion
If you would like the information collected from your device to be deleted, please write to the address below and we will delete the records that correspond to it.
Note also that uninstalling the App stops all further collection.
If you contact us, the e‑mail address, name and any other details you provide are used solely to respond to you. They are kept only as long as is necessary for that purpose, and are not provided to third parties.
12. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
13. Changes to this policy
If the information we collect or the purposes for which we use it change, we will revise this policy and update the effective date above. Where a change is significant, the App will ask for your agreement again.
